San Diego Half-Day Sport Fishing Trips

The Half Day trip is perfect for the first time and the casual angler looking to get out on the water for a few hours, do some fishing and grab a bite from the galley. Deep Sea fishing trips out of Mission Bay and San Diego Bay fish areas in USA waters (unless notified prior to departure when big gamefish are biting) from La Jolla south to Imperial Beach, giving you a good view of the California coastline as well as good fishing. It is a favorite trip for families looking to spend some time together on the water and for others testing out sea sickness and sea legs for longer trips.

During the spring and summer months these trips search for Yellowtail, Barracuda, Calico Bass, Barred Sandbass and other surface fish in the Point Loma and La Jolla kelp beds or spots off Imperial Beach south to the USA/Mexico Border. During the winter months, you'll fish for shallow water Rockfish, Lingcod, Sculpin and Sheephead. For the first timers, the crew will be more than happy to help you set up your gear and get fishing. If you have a little more experience, they can give you some pointers to make you trip more enjoyable and let you know what rig is working best for that day.

All San Diego boats on Mission Bay and San Diego Bay have full service galleys with hot and cold beverages and my favorite, a mouth-watering cheesburger. From cooking you breakfast to making you a cheeseburger, or getting you a soda, water, or even beer, the galley cook is ready to serve you. Although alcohol is available on board, please don't bring any of you own. Coolers are not allowed on any open party San Diego fishing vessel.

During your trip, you'll be on board one of San Diego's five Open Party Deep Sea Fishing Vessel's sportfishing vessels ranging in length from 65' to 85'. The 85' New Seaforth and 85' Dolphin are Mission Bay's regular half day boats, but schedules may vary due to charters and boat availability. On San Diego Bay are the half-day open party boat's Daily Double located at Pt.Loma Sportfishing and the Premier out of H&M Landing. In North San Diego County runs the half-day boat Electra out of Oceanside Harbor next to Camp Pendalton Marine Corp Base. Please note that all prices are subject to change and boats need a minimum passenger load to leave the dock. This is a typical list of costs to get out on the water for a half-day sportfishing trip. Most Southern California Half-Day deep sea fishng boats are in this price range but always call the landing for the latest price and if there is a fuel surcharge. Military discount generally refers to Active USA Military only.
